This was such a lovely wedding that took place at Silvertip Resort in Canmore AB. Megan and Andrew were so pleasant and easy to work with. Their families were so warm and welcoming, the guests so happy for the couple; so much love for these two great people.
We had some troublesome weather, as we approached the weekend. There was a strong chance of rain and thunderstorms during the day. It tried all day, and was successful at raining a couple of times, but that did not waiver the excitement either one of them had to be sharing their wedding day in the mountains.
With a mutual love for the outdoors, and the lifestyle that comes with it, there was never a question as to where they would want to marry. The mountains have always felt like a home to them, even though they now live in Ontario. They wanted to show their family and friends the magic of the Canadian Rockies, and have it be a haven for their wedding day.
We started off the day photographing both of them getting ready, which led up to a "first look". They had wanted to have less time dedicated to photography after their ceremony, so asked if I would be willing to do a short Bride/Groom session early in the day, followed by wedding party portraits. Once they were married, we continued with family portraits, and a second Bride/Groom portrait with better light before they joined their guests for the ceremony. All of it had gone over great, even with the odd shower we experienced throughout the session. The light was still very pretty all throughout the day.
Silvertip Resort, as always, provided an excellent venue for their special day. I love the touch they offer in providing a champagne toast right after the ceremony, allowing everyone to come up and congratulation the couple. This is one of my most favorite moments of a wedding day, as the emotions and excitement for the couple run high, creating really nice authentic moments.
The reception provided just as much love and affection, with the addition of great comedic moments throughout the evening. They came up with a great idea for the classic "Make the Couple Kiss" routine. They arranged it so you had to donate a certain amount of money, to a cause of their choice, and they would act out a kiss based on that donation. It was brilliant! When the time came for their first dance, they started out dancing together and then launched into a choreographed dance routine between them and their wedding party. It was so much fun! I love creative approaches to wedding days!
Thank you for having me be the lucky photographer that got to capture your special day Megan and Andrew! I hope you both continue to grow in your love for one another and always smile at the memory of your special day in the mountains. Warmest wishes! xo
Also, thank you again for imparting such kind words regarding my services for your wedding day.
“Planning a wedding from a distance can add a certain level of complexity, but Jody made the whole process as simple and stress-free as possible, from our first Skype meeting to the creation of our wedding photo album. With her positive attitude, Jody provided awesome advice that helped us to stay true to our vision of a celebration our love, but also our family and friends. Though our wedding day brought ever-changing weather conditions, she kept us calm, happy, dry and caught some truly amazing moments along the way. We highly recommend Jody to anyone looking for a photographer to collaborate with you to tell your story, and take you on a bit of an adventure while capturing all the beauty you and the mountains have to offer.” Megan and Andrew.
