Katie and Dan | Storm Mountain Lodge Elopement | Banff National Park Wedding

I absolutely loved being a part of this beautiful elopement at Storm Mountain Lodge in Banff National Park! Katie and Dan were absolute dreams to work with. This lovely couple reached out from Australia seeking an intimate environment, in the Canadian Rockies, for their elopement as a gift to each other for their 10 year anniversary of being together. Storm Mountain Lodge came to my mind immediately. They also wanted a tour da force experience with photography in the Rockies, and that is exactly what we did together. We started in Kootenay National Park and then finished with a few sites in Banff National Park before ending our time together. Any where we went, Katie's gorgeous gold dress shone like a bright light on a cool November day. What a fun dress to photograph! :)

Here are my most favourite images from their elopement. I hope you enjoy them! A huge thank you to Katie and Dan for bringing me along to capture this lovely time in your lives. I'll never forget you both. :)

Here's to many more blog posts to come! :)

Darren and Katie | Buffalo Mountain Lodge Wedding | Banff, Alberta

There are not enough words to express how much I enjoyed my time with this beautiful couple. Katie and Darren are two of the most kind, considerate and loveable people you could ever be fortunate to meet. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with them from our winter engagement session at Lake Louise and Emerald Lake, to their beautiful summer wedding at Buffalo Mountain Lodge

To start us off, I wanted to share some photos from our engagement session that took place at Lake Louise and Emerald Lake. We could have asked for better winter conditions. The sun was warm and inviting while we strolled Lake Louise, and Emerald Lake. These two soaked up the rays, each other and the incredibly beautiful mountain scenery we wandered in.

Their wedding day had a slightly different tone to it. We had rain, sun, moody skies and a whole lot of surprises throughout the day. The first surprise came when it started to pour rain just as  their ceremony was about to begin, and came to a full stop as they started sharing their beautiful vows to each other. The sun came out through the clouds and blessed them with some truly beautiful light as they exchanged their rings. It was quite the experience to witness.

The rest of their wedding unfolded beautifully. From moody skies during their portrait session to emotional speeches during their reception, to one of the most lovely, choreographed first dances I have ever photographed. All of it was simply a pleasure to photograph.

I loved their wedding day and getting to work with them as a couple. I feel very fortunate to have met, and now call them friends today. I hope you enjoy my favourite frames my time with them. Katie and Darren, I wish you both as much joy, love and happiness you felt on your wedding day, all of the days that you share together. You two are perfect for each other! xo

They shared some truly lovely words from their time with my services:

"Hey Jody! Wow! We were absolutely amazed by the photos. All of them are spectacular and tell every detail of our day. Looking at them, we were instantly transported back to the day and were even reminded of the small moments we were too overwhelmed to notice the first time.  There is absolutely no way for us to put into words how appreciative we are of your hard work and pure talent. We are so lucky to have found you! It was such a pleasure working with someone as passionate and warm as you are. You were always able to make us feel comfortable being photographed and your laugh is so infectious that it was impossible not to smile with you around. Thank you for helping us immortalize the memories of our special day! We are really looking forward to sharing these with our family and friends! We know everyone will love them as much as we do. ~ Much love, Katie and Darren."

Special thanks to Lara Shea, of Shea Studios, for offering some amazing help during their wedding day. It was a pleasure having you along to keep us all giggling, and me dry during the ceremony. ;)

Banff Engagement Session | Summer Engagement Sessions | Banff, AB

I loved this engagement session with Mike and Jen so much! We had a lovely time exploring areas within and around Lake Minnewanka for a lovely late summer session. I am so pleased I got to work with these two beautiful people. Here are my favourite images from our time together. I am so excited to photograph these two again for their wedding this summer near Calgary, AB. I hope you enjoy!

Warm wishes, xo

Emerald Lake Engagement Session | Morraine Lake Engagement Session

With temps reaching well into the negatives here in Golden, BC, I find myself craving warm sunshine and engagement sessions like this one. This was one of my favourite engagement sessions from 2016. I loved getting to work with Shannon and Noel for their impromptu engagement session in the Rockies. We started our session in beautiful Emerald Lake and finished just in time for a lovely, calm sunset at Morraine Lake.

Shannon and Joel were such a pleasure to photograph and work with. Being freshly engaged and feeling high on life, helped make this a truly beautiful experience to photograph. I hope you enjoy!

Stay warm out there! xo

Alpine Engagement Session | Kananaskis Country, AB

I loved this summer engagement session with Brendan and Basia so much! They were such a treat to work with! When we'd first started talking about engagement photos, we were really keen to go up in the mountains for a session to showcase their love of the Canadian Rockies. We waited for a good weather window, and wandered up into the alpine of Kananaskis country, Alberta, to enjoy a sunset engagement session amongst the beautiful peaks.

The evening was perfect. Little to no wind, warm temperatures and incredible views at every turn. We were all very pleased, especially the dog! I love winter very much, but these summery engagement photos have me craving the warmth of the sun, and the opportunity to get up high in the mountains to do more of this style of engagement photos. I love adventurous souls!

Super excited to work with these two beautiful beings again this coming June for their mountain top wedding held at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. I am super excited to photograph that gorgeous venue again, and get to work with Brendan and Basia for their very special date in the clouds. It will be great!

I hope you're all finding ways to play in the winter sun! Enjoy the photos! xo

Jason and Amy - Canmore Engagement Session

There is little I love more than warm, summer evenings in Canmore...

Meet, Jason and Amy. A lovely couple from Canmore, AB. I was absolutely thrilled when they asked me to photograph both their engagement session and wedding. From the beginning, we planned on bringing Nahly (their beloved dog) along with us for the engagement session. Being a fellow dog lover myself, I was more than happy to oblige. She added all sorts of fun moments to our evening walk. From swims in a lake, to charging the couple when they sat on the grass, to endless hilarious photo bombs that left all of us giggling. It wasn't hard to get great, authentic belly laughs out of these two.

Here are some photos from our walk in the Canmore sun. Stay tuned for their amazing wedding, which took place later on in the fall. You won't want to miss it! It was a beautiful fall day.

Until then, enjoy the summer sun everyone! xo

Tara Lyn and Steve - Engagement Session in Banff National Park

I am so pleased to finally share this engagement session here on the blog!

For the longest time, I have had this desire to work with a couple who would be willing to do a canoe based engagement session in the mountains. When I first met with Tara Lyn (TL) and Steve, I couldn't have been more pleased when they asked me if I would be willing to do an engagement session involving their favorite past time, canoeing. I wasted no time in saying yes, and getting to work on how we would do it.

We planned the canoe session to take place on Vermillion Lakes, near Banff town site. We had 2 canoes, one they maned, and another for myself with a lovely individual who steered for me while I took photos. The evening was perfect! Warm, calm waters, next to no wind and an absolutely beautiful couple to photograph. It was everything I dreamed it would be and more... They also requested some photos that would involve their beloved pet, Kula. I was more than happy to oblige. For this session, TL brought in the exceptional talents of make up artist Jenna Anderson of Canmore & Banff Makeup. If you ever need a makeup artist, look no further. Her work speaks for itself!

I often find myself feeling incredibly grateful with the clients I am blessed to work with, and these two are one of the reasons why. We met as strangers, and after working together, we became fast friends. I can hardly wait to show their incredibly loving wedding that took place at The Canmore Nordic Centre later on that summer. What a gift to be a part of their wedding, and to explore new terrain in the engagement department. Thank you from the bottom on my heart TL and Steve for being so open, so encouraging and a privilege to work with. xo
