Marie and Pierre-Olivier | Silvertip Resort Wedding | Canmore, Alberta

Canmore is truly one of the most beautiful places in Canada, especially in the fall. Marie and Pierre had an absolutely beautiful fall day for their fall wedding at Silvertip Resort. I am most pleased to finally see them on my blog.

Marie and Pierre chose Canmore as the location for a wedding because of their love the mountains and actives they share together in the area. Surrounded by many friends and family from all over the world they pledged their love for one another and committed their lives together. It was a privilege and an honour to be a part of their day.

Here are a collection of my favourite images from their wedding day. Thank you so much for bringing me a long to share in your lovely wedding, Marie and PO! I wish you both a life of love and happiness together. xo

Chyanne and Taylor | Canmore, AB Wedding | Canmore Wedding Photography

Between our lovely engagement session, and their even more beautiful wedding, it was such a pleasure working with this couple. Chyanne has to be one of the most kind, genuine and loveable women I have had the pleasure to work with. It is of little surprise to anyone that Tyler is so completely in love with her. You can sense that same love from all of their family and friends around her. They make a great couple together.

I am so pleased to share some of my favourite images from their engagement session in Kananaskis country, and their lovely DIY wedding that took place this past fall in Canmore AB. Chyanne went over the top with her incredible decorating and design ideas for their reception, which was held at the Miners Hall in Canmore, Alberta. She made everything from the backdrops to her own bouquets, and all of it was perfecting done.

Huge thank you to both Chyanne and Taylor for bringing me along to document this special time their your lives. I wish you both a life filled with love, companionship and the joy you feel for each other every day you are together. xo

Canmore Nordic Centre Wedding | August 2015 | Jody Goodwin Photography

Such pleasure getting to photograph Lindsay and Johnny's Canmore wedding at the Canmore Nordic centre this past August, 2015 on a beautiful summer's day in the Bow Valley. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to photograph their special wedding.

The day started off with a bit of hilarity on the part of the groomsmen. I happened to mention how much I enjoy characters and people with a good sense of humour. Johnny let me know that his groomsmen were just the ticket! Between sunny beers on their deck, to lots of jokes and gentle camaraderie, the groom/groomsmen definitely had me giggling and blushing all day long. Lindsay... Those eyes, that dress and yes, your bridesmaids were a ton of fun as well! You all were so much fun to work with!

The rest of their day was filled with lots of love and celebration at the union of these two long time sweethearts. Lots of great speeches and tributes were delivered throughout their evening. One of my favourite memories from their day was a private first dance that took place outside, on their perfectly warm, clear/calm, and nearly full moon night. Definitely my favourite frames from their day.

Thank you for bringing me along to document your day, Lindsay and Johnny! I hope you enjoy each other for many, many years to come. Lots of love and well wishes to you both. xo

Summer Family and Yoga Inspired Maternity Session | Canmore, AB

As much as I love wedding photography, there is still a part of me that really enjoys working with families and documenting their milestone moments. I especially enjoy getting to reconnect with families I have photographed in the past to see how much they have grown.

I first worked with the Koebel Family back in the summer of 2013, on a warm summer's day in Canmore. I had known Laura through past friends, so it was a treat getting to photograph her, and her family. This past summer we reunited for a different kind of family session. This time, this sweet family of three were getting ready to welcome a fourth and I couldn't have been more delighted to work with them again.

I especially enjoyed this session as I have always wanted to photograph yoga. I love the shapes of yoga, the calm energy that comes from people practicing yoga, and the skill required to perform it well is also appealing. Laura has a great website and Facebook page dedicated to her practice, and offerings as a yoga instructor. Getting to photograph her was great and a welcomed change for maternity photography.

Thank you for bringing me along to capture another milestone moment for your sweet family! I can hardly wait for our mountain yoga session one of these days, Laura! I hope all four of you are well and happy! Many Blessings! xo

Liana and Michael | Canmore, AB Wedding

I loved getting to work with Michael and Liana for their wedding in Canmore, Alberta this past August 2015. Their wedding day called for quite a bit of rain and occasional thunder storms. It rained (very hard) when we wanted it to, and cleared just enough to provide some really lovely, moody wedding photos when we wanted the rain to stop.

This couple loves the outdoors so much. It is ingrained in their past times, their work and their connection to one another. It was so great to work with them, and know that going outside for portraits was the only options for the day. I also loved their decorations for their wedding! Lots of outdoor themed table settings and name cards were made by the Bride herself. She did such a great job!

The couple got ready in beautiful rooms provided by Solara Resort and Spa in Canmore, AB. The mood was light, relaxed, but full of excitement for the day ahead. Michael and Liana got married at Our Lady of the Rockies Parish in Canmore, AB. It was my first time photographing a wedding at this church. The service was lovely.

After an afternoon of wandering the valley bottoms and some hillside sites in the Canmore area, we retreated from the cool weather to the comforts of the Cornerstone Theatre for the reception. Lots of humorous speeches and children playing about, lead to a wonderful wrap up of their day.

Thank you, Liana and Michael, for bringing me along to document your day and feel like a member of your family. It was so great getting to work with you, and your families! Warmest wishes for a great life adventuring alongside each other. Many blessings to you both, xo

I would also like to thank Andrew Lunt Photography for coming out and offering a hand at their wedding.

My Favourite Moments from 2015 ~ A Year in Review

I love this time of year. I love getting to look back and reflect on all the great times you shared with friends, the adventures you par took in and the work that you are proud to share. There is much to be grateful for!

I'm happy to share a sample of my favourite moments and images from 2015. The collection starts with some images from engagement sessions, then wedding photography, and finishes with a few lifestyle photos. It is a mere sample of the many blogs yet to come. I look forward to sharing more images, and the stories that go with them, in the new year.

From getting to photograph weddings and portraiture sessions in Golden BC, Edmonton AB and a variety of places within Canmore, Banff, Lake Louise and Kananaskis country; it really has been a great year for engagement photography, wedding photography and lifestyle photography. Looking back on these photos I can not help but feel all warm and fuzzy inside. It feels pretty great to have had the opportunity to meet these wonderful people, get to know a bit of their story and show them how beautiful they are. I know this sounds corny, possibly a bit too bubbly, but I really love this path. Deeply. Getting to share this passion with so many wonderful people has left me enormously happy, grateful and driven to do better each year. 2015 has been a great year, and I am super pumped to see what is in store for 2016.

To each and everyone of you, Thank You for bringing me along to share in your intimate celebrations. It has meant the world to me to get to photograph your special occasion. I wish you all nothing but the very best life has to offer and a continued path of love, joy and happiness together.

Happy New Year and New Beginnings!

Warmest regards, xo

Silvertip Resort Wedding - Canmore, Alberta

I am super excited to share both the engagement and wedding photos I took from my time with Teegan and Aaron this past year! They were such a pleasure to work with! They made my job very easy to show the love they feel for each other. So many giggles, long and loving stares, and cuddles to photograph. Just the way I like it!

Their wedding day proved to be nothing less. Lots of love was in the air on their very special wedding day on July 10th, 2015. The temps were warm, the sun came and went with the clouds, it was a perfect day to get married in Canmore, Alberta. I love shooting weddings at Silvertip Resort. The backdrop, the gazebo, the grounds, all of it is a pleasure to photograph.

Along with all of the beauty that came with their day, Teegan and Aaron also brought along a whole lot of fun and some shenanigans to boot. I love when couples come up with a group activity the wedding party can partake in during their photo session. For this particular moment, they decided they wanted to shot gun beers for a photo. Lots of giggles, some apprehension and little bit of competition came to the table for this particular event. So much fun!

Teegan and Aaron also had a great way of discouraging/encouraging kisses during the reception. They created a large die that you had to roll, and then perform whatever action presented in front of all the guests. It was brilliant! Lots of fun to watch and photograph!

The day ended with a beautiful sunset on the grounds at Silvertip. It was the perfect ending to a great wedding in Canmore. Thank you so much Teegan and Aaron for bringing me along to capture your wedding day. I loved getting to laugh, celebrate and document your day. I wish you both the very best together, and I am so excited to see you guys grow as a beautiful family. Warmest wishes for your next chapter. xo

I would also like to thank Andrew Lunt Photography for his assistance during their beautiful day. Your help was much appreciated!

Falon and Derek's Summer Wedding at the Canmore Golf and Curling Club.

What a day this wedding proved to be for all involved! Between the summer temps that broke +37 degrees Celsius, to a car accident that nearly kept me from joining the reception, to one of the hottest and most lively dance's I've ever photographed, this day delivered! Big time!

Okay, let's back it up... To start, Derek and Falon are without a doubt two of the nicest people you could ever ask to work with and know. From the moment we met, at a great little coffee shop in Canmore, I knew they would be a pleasure to work with. Listening to them describe all of the different places they have visited in the world, and all of the places they couldn't contain their excitement encouraging me to also visit, I knew this would be a wedding to remember.

Let's speed up to June 27th, 2015. The day was clear, warm and bristling with excitement as these two got ready to be married at the Canmore Golf and Curling Club. Solara Resort and Spa provided getting ready locations for both Derek and Falon; they were also the host of their reception. To say this day was hot, would be an understatement! To add to the heat, Falon's dress was hard to beat. She was beyond beautiful in her open back, low cut, beautiful dress. I loved getting to photograph her in it.

Derek and Falon prepared me for the array of characters that would be involved at their wedding, they did not lead me astray. The day and night were filled with laughter, great dance moves and funny characters left, right and centre. I am super grateful I was able to get to know them better, as I almost didn't make the reception... While on route to Solara Resort and Spa, a car rear ended me, causing quite a stir on the path to their reception. Between desperate pleas with the ambulance and RCMP, I was finally freed to join the couple (uninjured!) and capture the many heartfelt speeches and awesome dance moves that ensued.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Derek and Falon for allowing me to be a part of your super, fun-filled wedding day! I wish you both so much joy, adventures abroad and at home with each other, and with the beautiful life you two are building together. You both are one of kind! Much love! xo

Iron Goat Pub and Grill ~ Canmore Wedding Photography

What a gift to get to work with these two incredible people... Sonya and Perry are two of the nicest, most easy going people you could be fortunate to work with. I knew from our very first conversation, where we discussed their wedding day that we would be a match made in heaven. When it came time for me to photograph their engagement session, it was like going for a walk with great friends and taking some photos. We had a glorious sunset to work with in Canmore. The setting, the company and the conversation was great. Their wedding proved to be just as lovely and memorable.

Their wedding took place at the Iron Goat Pub and Grill in Canmore. We had such a nice day for their wedding. Warm sunshine bathed the deck at the Iron Goat making everything in it's path glow, including the love that shined off of Sonya and Perry. These two are surrounded by some really loving family and friends. It was such a joy getting to know a few of them and share in the bliss of their wedding day.

Thanks to Perry and Sonya, I have tried their featured beverage from their wedding day, a red wine sangria at the Iron Goat, and I must say that is has become a favourite treat of mine in Canmore. It is delicious and comes highly recommended!

Thank you for the incredible journey of getting to be your wedding photographer, Sonya and Perry! I wish you both so much joy and happiness in life together. I am so grateful I met you both. Much love, xo.

Perry and Sonya were kind enough to send me this lovely testimonial from their experience with me as their wedding photographer. Thank you so much for your kind words. You guys are the best!

"Jody, I wanted to send you some feedback on our experience with you as our chosen photographer - the one we trusted  to capture the memories of our special day. It may be difficult for me to fully express in words how totally blown away we were (are...) with the total experience. This refers to our very first discussions, to the initial engagement photos right through to the final pictures which we just received a few week ago. I remember warning you early on that we may be a challenging project (I'm not exactly the most photogenic .......) but you never wavered in your commitment to deliver. You did however severely under promise and then significantly over deliver on this commitment. You provided everything we asked for, captured the entire event in ways I could never have hoped for - yet you did this while seeming to be invisible. Without exception every person we have been involved in a conversation with about our wedding has mentioned you and how amazed they were with how committed you were to capturing our event. There seemed to be no end to what you would do to get the perfect shot(s). Keep in mind that they all said this without having even seen any of the final product - and the final results are stunning!!! There has to be several (maybe way more) award winning exposures in the collection you sent us. I remember thinking as you were setting up the shots that i wasn't sure they were going to be great - but then to see them afterwards - they weren't great - they were spectacular!!!! You took us to some amazing locales in the Canmore area that i have got to believe few were aware even existed and you captured all the special landscapes that we wanted - without us even knowing you were doing it. Thank you again for being a part of our day Jody. You are a true professional and you should be very proud of the work you produce!!!"

Canmore Nordic Centre Wedding ~ Canmore Wedding Photography

I absolutely adore this local Canmore couple! I knew from the moment I met Tara Lyn and Steve that they would be incredible to work with. Between the engagement sessions we planned together, to their wedding day, all of it was great. I couldn't have asked for better clients to work with!

Their wedding day was filled with laughter, love and great energy. Getting to watch (and photograph) Jenna Anderson of Mountain Makeup Artistry work her magic with Tara Lyn, and the bridemaids, was pretty amazing to take in. It was also a pleasure getting to work with B-towne Salon out of Banff and see their work as well. I recommend both of these local options if you are looking for Hair and Make up services for your wedding day in Canmore, Banff or Lake Louise.

It threatened rain all day at the wedding, but managed to hold off until right before we headed in for the reception at the Canmore Nordic Centre. Perfect timing for one heck of fun evening! Between singing to make the couple kiss, many emotional and funny speeches, the best gift "ever" presented to the groom and wedding party by the bride (see hockey jersey's), and a dance party that left me hopping from one person to the next capturing some impressive dance moves. What a great wedding, at a great venue, in an awesome town!

Thank you Tara Lyn and Steve for allowing me the great pleasure of documenting this special occasion in your lives. I loved your family and friends so much. Can't wait for out next adventure in a Canoe! Much love, xo
