Summer Family and Yoga Inspired Maternity Session | Canmore, AB

As much as I love wedding photography, there is still a part of me that really enjoys working with families and documenting their milestone moments. I especially enjoy getting to reconnect with families I have photographed in the past to see how much they have grown.

I first worked with the Koebel Family back in the summer of 2013, on a warm summer's day in Canmore. I had known Laura through past friends, so it was a treat getting to photograph her, and her family. This past summer we reunited for a different kind of family session. This time, this sweet family of three were getting ready to welcome a fourth and I couldn't have been more delighted to work with them again.

I especially enjoyed this session as I have always wanted to photograph yoga. I love the shapes of yoga, the calm energy that comes from people practicing yoga, and the skill required to perform it well is also appealing. Laura has a great website and Facebook page dedicated to her practice, and offerings as a yoga instructor. Getting to photograph her was great and a welcomed change for maternity photography.

Thank you for bringing me along to capture another milestone moment for your sweet family! I can hardly wait for our mountain yoga session one of these days, Laura! I hope all four of you are well and happy! Many Blessings! xo

Lau Family Sessions in Banff and Lake Louise area

I am so pleased to share this lovely family session I had the pleasure of doing last summer with the Lau family, from Hong Kong. They contacted me looking to do some family portraits while on vacation in Banff National Park over the summer. I happily obliged, and agreed to meet them in Banff for a session on an overcast, but very nice day in July. When we finished the session, they quickly asked if I would be available for another session in the Lake Louise area. I happened to be free another day that week, and was happy to meet with them again in the Lake Louise area to continue our family sessions there.

The weather could not have been more beautiful for the Lake Louise and Morraine Lake area for a second family session together. I am so glad they asked, as it gave me an opportunity to learn more about them and where they come from. What a treat to get learn more about them and their lives in Hong Kong.

Thank you for the great family sessions, the laughs and opportunities to tell stories about our beloved home countries. I look forward to your return someday. Best wishes, xo

Summer Family Session in Canmore, AB

With the warm sun making it's return this last week in Canmore, it has me dreaming about summer weddings and portraiture photography sessions. I can hardly wait to get out in the summer sun with my camera!

Here is a family session, from last summer, of a lovely local family headed out for a walk with their dog, and two adorable children. Although it was tough at times to get photos of everyone looking at the camera, and interacting with me, I appreciate the ones that are real and showcase how they interact as a family. In particular, I love the ones where they are interacting with each other, laughing and smiling, and just enjoying being outside on a warm summers evening. This is the style of family, and lifestyle photography I enjoy doing most.

Enjoy our warm winter sun everyone! Spring is right around the corner! xo

Winter Family Session at Camp Chief Hector

This is one of my most favorite family sessions I have ever had the pleasure of photographing! This session was from last winter, when Jana and Ben were expecting their second child and wanted to document what their life was like before their new addition arrived, and changed their arrangement at Camp Chief Hector.

I hesitated on sharing this session, as it was done a long time ago. I decided to share it, as it is the style of family photos I love to do most. I love getting to document families in their natural environment, doing what they would normally do. I also loved the idea of getting to photograph what their life was like at Camp Chief Hector.

At the time, Ben was finishing veterinary school and was there to care for the horses while they both lived on the property. The day of our session the snow came down heavy and plentiful, making an almost dreamy background for the photos. Their son was so cute and completely stole my heart! His love of snow matched mine in every way. He giggled with delight playing in it and smiling to his hearts content getting to be outside with his family.

I hope you enjoy the wintery looking photos! I definitely recommend family photos at all times of the year, especially if you are a family who loves to play outside. It can make for some really timeless, and interesting looking photos that reflect the way you live and love as a family.

Enjoy! xo
